The theatre is one of the oldest cultural forms of humanity, and although rarely reported large profits he has considered an institution social and formative first magnitude conceived as action live, the dissemination of radio and 20th century recording devices allowed preserving and disseminating the voices of the actors: was born radiated theatre and later would the radio or radio serial. Rich patrons gave way to the Central and local authorities in their support, protection and promotion.
In this context, Radio Alcoy has been a radio station traditionally linked to the theatrical environment. Since its foundation, Jesús Raduán Pascual had good fans among its collaborators and plays emissions occupied much of radio programming in the early years. In addition, there was a special connection with the theaters of the city, like the "teatro Circo" (founded in 1903) and the "Calderón (converted into a cinema later). With the II Spanish Republic there was a special concern for getting a quality theater, to all over the world with great development (along with the classic and commercial Theatre) University and experimental theatre and Lorca and his traveling theatre "La Barraca" in the forefront of the renewal. In Radio Alcoy During that time and especially from October 1933, were incorporated into fixed broadcasts of "Radio theather" live, in Valencia and in a casual and friendly atmosphere.
Franco's victory was subjected to the theatre at the same rigid censorship affecting the rest of cultural aspects and for years the power of the "Falange" and the Church was noted. In general, the theatre suffered a serious setback and for years was relegated to a position of more modest as a form of art and entertainment. Over time, the most important stations had been replacing radio drama sessions and Radio Alcoy followed suit with the multifaceted Mario Silvestre among others. From the 1950s in cities as Alcoy witnessed a growing phenomenon of cultural renaissance that would have its influence also in theatre and in the radio., next to the penalty drama Alcoyana had a second box of actors in Radio Alcoy dedicated to experimental theatre, under the direction of Antonio Oltra Miralles. These Alcoy experiences, though ephemeral, will result in the creation of the prestigious theatre group "La cazuela" in 1955, strongly linked to the own Radio Alcoy, especially with regard to actors and announcers. Radio Alcoy had in addition to microphone lines connected with important centres of the city, as already mentioned the circus Theatre halls and the Calderón, which allowed him to radio plays live outside the Studio.
In addition, the phenomenon of the radio serial (radio soap opera dramatized and issued in series episodes) was born with 'Lo que nunca muere' of Guillermo Sautier in 1953. This subgenre of sound narrative was the product star of the radio for more than 20 years, consolidated the daily periodicity of emissions and could ensure this important indexes of audience to advertisers. The range of programmes based on theatre and radio dramas was very broad in Alcoy Radio since then, especially since the 1960s after its incorporation in the Cadena SER. Classic theatre, commercial theatre, religious Theatre, popular sketches, experimental theatre, radio serials, programs on theatre, municipal theatre competitions, and so forth.
